Daisy picnic blanket

Every so often, I end up having that month of total obsession where I have a constant hunger to create something concrete with my hands, and this time it was crochet's turn (once again).

The project

I had already completed a few small projects, such as centerpieces and small decorations, but this is my first real big project, serious stuff! It is a green picnic blanket with daisies, a very simple concept, but one that I find really effective aesthetically. I can't wait to open it up and lay it on a beautiful flowery meadow and relax under the breeze and the gentle spring sun.

At the moment, I've reached just over a square meter of blanket, and I aim to reach at least a meter and a half. I hope to be able to update this progress soon!

On the experience of crocheting

There is something truly meditative and relaxing about the repetitive movement and precision of crocheting, especially for such long projects: I often find myself feeling literally “clear-headed” and “light” after perhaps an hour of crocheting.

During longer sessions, I might put on some comforting TV series or films in the background, or sometimes just music. I really find myself in a bubble of peace when I crochet, where time passes smoothly. For example, I sometimes take train journeys lasting up to 4 hours, during which I crochet for the entire 4 hours, only to realize that they have passed in an instant.

Once upon a time... a new obsession was born

There has always been ONE thing that has prevented me from becoming a true and loyal fan of Stardew Valley: the graphic style.
I recognize the country and rustic inspiration, but unfortunately, it has never managed to scratch the aesthetic part of my brain.
I thought the problem was the pixel art; maybe if it had been drawn, it wouldn't have bothered me so much...

But, oh my... I changed my mind about this when one day I saw the trailer for this new upcoming farming sim on YouTube.

My first impressions with Field of Mistria

I immediately got hooked by the inspiration from 80s anime, whose visual synthesis and overall aesthetic I love; after that, I appreciated the meticulously crafted palette and the consistent, clean, simple aesthetic.
It vaguely reminded me of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and it also immediately brought to mind the old GameBoy games (including the old Harvest Moon, bless it!): in short, I couldn't help but fall in love with this new title: Field of Mistria.

But graphics aside, would it hold up in terms of gameplay? Not that I have high expectations for a farming sim, but even from the sneak peeks I could see some really nice and interesting features, which I won't go into detail about. Oh well, it was obvious that I would immediately sign up for the beta... and so I did.

Oh boy... I wasn't disappointed

It immediately became an OBSESSION, seriously, it had been years since a game had immersed me so much. The story, the characters, the world of Mistria has been crafted with love, and it shows. So, after 100 hours of gameplay, I decided to retrace, collect, and document all my past and new enjoyable experiences with this exciting title.

Welcome to Honeydew farm!

Home sweet home :3

Home sweet home :3

So Honeydew Farm became my new little home in Mistria. An overgrown green space ready to be given new life, thanks to Adeline - whose brother Eiland, by the way, is truly husband material.

The seasons pass, Friday nights at the tavern, birthdays, adventures in the dangerous depths of the caves, and the second year in the game slips by lazily.

Almost from the beginning, Gugu, my black kitten, has kept me company on the farm (you can see a photo of him here on the left, in my cottage). Gugu is a really good kitty, and I always try to remember to give him snacks and cuddles every day when he comes back from his foraging trips!

There's still so much work to do!!

The Honedew Farm family was later joined by other friends, such as the cows Stracchina and Stracchino (soft cheese in Italian), the rooster and hen Pallino and Pallina (tiny ball), the sheep Nuvoletta (tiny cloud), and the rabbit Pom Pom. Below are two photos of the barn and chicken coop!
